It’s All About the Wait

It’s all about the wait when it comes to faith. We have to have enough faith to let God (or Good) act in our lives, and faithful enough to see the Universal Good in the outcome. Some people seek signs or guidance, and that’s all well and good, but I will say that if urgent enough, God will hit us over the head with a hammer to make certain things very clear. Many of us hit a “bottom” so-to-speak, where life gets so hard changes must be made. Others get fed up with stress or worry or fear and just start asking for Good to act in their lives, similar to Jesus taking the wheel but with less traffic accidents involved.

We can’t be so afraid to live our lives or make mistakes that we give up all agency or control or actually take our hands off the wheel. Good (or God) acts through us. It is our very choices and willingness to believe in the outcomes that make Good real. And we will still encounter confusion, pain, hardship - those are the times when a lot of prayer and a lot of patience are key. When we are hustling about our lives without prayer, pause, and patience, we are not listening to God (or Good) and that’s akin to asking for trouble.

That being said, I genuinely believe that Good or God or the Universe is not about punishment. There is literally no negativity in true faith. We can build a big, beautiful, bright life and future with faith, but the more we doubt it or Good or ourselves, the more we speak to ourselves or others negatively, or envision a future with fear and hardship and pain, the more we move away from all of our potential and all the Good we can do with faith.

This is basically the same principle as intention. Many self-help gurus talk about building a future with the Universe (I didn’t make this BLEEP up all on my own, people). Based on my own, personal, first-hand experience, this BLEEP is real, but not just because I mystically conjured up a better parking space or a shiny mansion through sheer brain power. Instead, focusing on the positive, believing in myself and my worthiness of Good, and staying focused on faith in a positive future makes me more apt to see all the Good in my life and see even more into fruition.

I firmly believe that a negative or difficult life is one built without faith in Good (or God, call it what you will), and hardship is not punishment on God’s behalf. We keep making choices that either reward us or destroy us, improve our circumstances or diminish us depending on our faith and whether or not we believe we are worthy of it.

Now, when it comes to a waiting period and prayer, I have no specific answers. What I do believe is that we are allowed to pray as much as we want about the same problem, over and over again, until we tucker ourselves out. Sometimes, I think that quantity of spiritual firepower aimed at a problem wears us down until we reach a point of acceptance, and that’s when everything changes. Obsessive prayer is better than destructive, faithless action, always.

For example, I have been praying for a solution to a real problem in my life for months. It has caused me a lot of pain for almost a year. And I could not solve the problem myself. God had to solve it for me, and somehow I knew, deep down, that with enough prayer and faith, the problem would solve itself. Lo and behold, the thorn in my side has been removed. And I knew it would be without my involvement. As soon as I resigned myself to accepting the problem, it changed and Good prevailed on my behalf.

Like I said, folks, when it comes to faith, it’s all about the wait.
