When the Going Gets Good
It’s easy to call upon God (or Good) when the going gets rough. But what about when things feel like they couldn’t get any better? Sometimes, I find my faith gets neglected when Good (or God) has been answering all my prayers. Sometimes, I take my spiritual credit card with me everywhere and have no qualms about getting everything I want without paying God (or Good) very much attention at all. But when I don’t get what I want? You best believe I have God (or Good) on speed dial, ready to make another request.
The best part about this is that the Good (or God) I believe in doesn’t require penance of any kind. There is no expectation of repentance, just me building my best life with the God (or Good) of my choosing. I don’t believe Good (or God) is built on self-flagellation. The more positive and spiritual I am about envisioning a positive future, the more positive and aligned my future will be. I get to use my spiritual credit card, because I am the one who made that credit in the first place, through prayer, optimism, faith, affirmations, visualizations, kindness, love, generosity, and just plain believing in Good (or God).
It’s not Good for us to walk around believing we need to spiritually pay or suffer for any good fortune. That’s pretty negative messaging and it has more to do with spiritual lack, darkness, control, or misalignment than it has to do with spiritual wealth or abundance. The God (or Good) I know wouldn’t want us to suffer our way to freedom, prosperity, love, faith, and joy. That’s like getting on a train headed south when trying to go north.
It’s okay… rather, it’s important for us to enjoy the Good, but it does behoove us to be grateful for it. When I’m really immersed in a joyful moment, I do thank God (or Good) for all that I have. That gratitude only fuels the fires of faith more and it is real. I genuinely have faith, so it seems only natural to give credit where it’s due. I would not have all that I have or be doing everything that I am were it not for the spiritual support and grounding I have every day. I have been willing to have a little faith in dreaming dreams with God (or Good) as my benefactor, and therefore it only seems natural to tip my cap to the God (or Good) of my choosing for all our hard work. Penance not required.
