I highly recommend experimenting with seeking faith as a path to a stronger, softer version of ourselves.   

Trauma can teach us a great deal, if we are willing. 

Asking for a sign alleviates the pressure of waiting, searching, looking around, and trying to solve it ourselves. It is an act of working under the assumption that God (or Good) is working on it and will let us know when it is time.

Faith is a place to get to know our true selves. There is no punishment here, only valuable lessons learned, resilience to earn, and new opportunities to uncover. The only thing I would encourage you to do is to always, always, always go where the Good (or God) lies.  

As difficult as it may be to leave another in darkness, we do not owe them our own opportunity to live in the light. 

The next time you catch yourself bailing out a sinking ship with a teaspoon or trying to put out a fire that you accidentally (or intentionally) started, maybe just step away from the problem entirely to see what God (or Good) does with it.
